Ranch Orientation – Introduction to the Children’s Program
During orientation, the Children’s Program Manager will talk about the exciting week ahead, what you will need to bring with your child each day to camp and help answer any questions you might have.
Games, Group and Horse Assignments, Saddle Fitting, Boots and Helmets
Counselors spend time playing name games with the children to get everyone acquainted and comfortable. Children are split up into riding groups based on age and riding ability. After each child is assigned a group and counselor(s), they will visit the barn where they will find out what horse they have for the week. They will also get fit to a saddle, get assigned a helmet and boots if they do not already have them.
Children’s Program Ends: Parents Meet Counselors & Kids at Patio House
Family Evening Entertainment: Ice Cream Social
Nothing says vacation like an ice cream before bed! Join us for some sweet treats at the ice cream bar where you’ll get to meet your child’s counselor(s) for the week. This is a great time to share any important information with the counselor(s) about your child like allergies, specific rules for the week, etc. Don’t stay up too late though! This a great night to hit the hay early so you and your family can rest up for an exciting week ahead!

Kids Riding Safety Demo in Outdoor Arena before hitting the trail!
Introductory Trail Rides (First Day = Walk Only)
As kids mount their horses, counselors and wranglers help adjust stirrups and reins to make sure each rider is comfortable and ready to go. Our wranglers and counselors then go over a few important basics— how to hold the reins, keep heels down, sit with good posture, and practice simple steering and control. This walk-only ride is all about helping riders build a good connection with their horse, feel confident in their tack, and gain a basic understanding of horsemanship to start the week ahead.
Mustangs Morning Trail Ride
Kids’ trail rides are one of the most exciting parts of the ranch experience! Riders head out together through the Rocky Mountain trails, chatting, singing songs, and enjoying the adventure. Along the way they stop at a special spot where everyone hops off their horses to stretch their legs, play games, and hear fun stories from their counselors. Surrounded by mountain views and fresh pine-scented air, kids laugh, make new friends, and create memories they’ll never forget.
